Default Dumb spark plug question

Hi,

I've done a search on here & the web & just confused myself.

My 04 is due a service and as she's nearing 75k I think it's time she had some new spark plugs.

Honda want to charge £150 for supplying & fitting. After asking about fitting I was told this would be £40. £110 for plugs sounds expensive!

So I will supply my own oil & filter for them to fit but what plugs do I buy and where do I get them?

Hendys site is a nightmare to navigate and the best I could find were on Tegiwa but they would need gapping (link below). Any help would be appreciated.

I've no clue what plugs you linked us to.

Correct plugs are NGK PFR7G-11S Stock No. 7772. Even available in the UK.

Pre-gapped and anti-seize already on the threads. Torque to 24 lb-ft (twenty four) .

Looks like less than £50 for a set of 4.

(The correct spark plugs are listed in the "specifications" section toward the back of my owner's manual. Not in yours?)

Try Cox motor parts or speak to Si at Hendy. They usually have everything service related in stock and both provide discounts to forum members

This is what I fitted NGK PFR7G-11S.
Opie oils, Cox and Hendy would be a starting point. Under £10 each.

As per the Tech FAQ (which is usually the best place to look for things like this): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela.../#post12971971

Here's the link Chuck posted but actually working: PFR7G-11S | NGK Spark Plug 7772 | Sparkplugs Ltd

Or from the aforementioned Cox Motor Parts: http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genui...009-p-398.html

or from Hendy (I just Googled "Hendy S2000 Spark Plugs") http://www.hendyeshop.co.uk/s2000-ge...bh-26869-p.asp

The first link is the cheapest at £45.44 delivered.

Or if you don't mind going over to the dark side :-

HONDA S2000 2.0 NGK LASER PLATINUM SPARK PLUGS x4 09/1999- PFR7G-11S 7772 | eBay

What ever you do don't be tempted to use the Denso equivalent others have posted problems with the electrode breaking off, very expensive!

As for it being a "dumb question", remember this is the heart of your car you are talking about. So in this case the old adage runs very true.

"the only stupid question is the one you don't ask"

OP, here's the link to the plugs at Cox:

Genuine Honda S2000 Spark Plug Set-2000-2009 [98079571BH] - £55.80 : Buy Genuine Honda Parts, Honda Car Parts & Honda Spare Parts Online

Currently on 35% off. I paid full price for these when I serviced mine; car felt much better, throttle response vastly improved. If you have a spark plug socket (NOT a tool, a socket!) you can do these yourself in about 20 mins taking your time over it.

AND a torque wrench...

It's a very straightforward job, unless you're ham-fisted enough to cross-thread them or something. Always turn in the wrong direction until the threads synchronise...

Is it a 10mm or 8mm for the coil packs and cover fasteners?

10mm is the most common size Honda uses in my experience.

Photo essay.
