Default DVLC Problems

Has anyone else had problems with the above? I am waiting for my car(s2000), i bought it from a honda dealer and although its all ready they have warned me it could take DVLC upto ten days to register my car with my personal plate. When I have done this before I just walk in they change my MOT and Tax and take the log book away and its done I can drive !!! Why is it taking so long I need that car now!!!!!

Is the plate already on another car? If not, it shouldn't take any longer than applying for a new registration. Even if transferring the registration, it should be possible to do it over the counter.

My dealer did mine over the counter at the local DVLA office.

Aye, if you have it on Retention!

Me and Hairy Dan have fallen into this trap.

Basically I kept my plate in the deal we reached, so

I had to apply for retention of the S2000 PD plate, done locally, which took 7 working days, handing over the form you have to fill in + MOT + V5 +

Hi Paul

I must have been very lucky. When I changed from my 00 to the 02S my dealer did everything for me.

Just gone through exactly the same thing woogie, my car was at the dealers but they were waiting for all the reg documents etc to come back from swansea. My dealer sent all relevant forms to dvla on a tuesday and nine days later my car was ready. Very frustrating when you know your cars just sitting there.

I registered my S with a personal plate a few weeks ago. Did it myself. I took the papers in to my local DVLA office one morning, collected a "note" and tax disc the next afternoon (sadly a long bank hol weekend in between) so 48 hours. The note allowed me to get plates made up and away we went.

About ten days later the V5 arrived - with an error so sent it back. Now waiting for the corrected version.

Point is you can drive once you have the plates.

I had the same problem when I bought my S. It took 3 weeks for the transfer to be processed, however when I took it up myself with the DVLA in Sheffield it miraculously appeared and the dealer immediately went and fetched it so I could have the car that day.

I think if you are prepared to stand in a queue you can do it yourself
