Default ECU differences? HELP!

Hi all,

My '00 S2000 has just failed its SVA on a couple of minor things, but the main concern I have is that the ECU code is different to what the ESVA model report states. All of the digits are correct on the box except for the last number which reads JO2 and not JO1. Does anyone know if these are any different?

Thanks!
Chris

Might be worth posting this in the 'under the hood' section...

I think the jap car have a diffrent ecu due to the diffrent Jap mapping for better fuel etc, thus producting 247bhp not 237 that eu cars have.

If they say its a problem just make up and new sticker and stick it over the offending code

NOT Jokeing

are you actually saying at the SVA centre they pulled up the trim to look at the ECU? - did it actually fail on this??

there are plenty of JDM's imported to UK with the original ECU.. how we know this is because we get the question posted on here regularly.. how to remove the speed limiter?.. and the speed limiter only comes on the JDM ECU..

cheers for the advice guys but ive since found out that that there were 3 different software revisions for the ECU - the last three digits being J00, J01 & J02. The SVA centre used hte J01 report by mistake, but yes they did fail it on that, as well as some other stupidly petty things.

Kobe - yes mate they make you pull out the trim panels so they can read it! They even had to match the MAP sensor writing, C02 thing and other bits. They are like fooking robots down there!!!!

SO what are you saying chris ? You have got to change the ECU to pass a the SVA??? Thats maddness and Bullshit.

Or have you just got to explain to them the deal with the software rev's ?

I asked hte SVA tester what he thinks he should do and he said fook all. Basically he was saying that if its not what it says on his sheet then its a failure!!! They are sooooo picky as well. My rear foglight was 5% off centre and they failed it because of that! I even offered to unscrew it and move it th 2mm there and then but they had none of it!!!!

Anyway with the ECU thing it turns out that having spoken to modelreports.com who supplied the ESVA report, they told me that the SVA centre downloaded the wrong report!!!! So its their fookin fault anyway!!!!

Proper aggro!!!
