Default Electrical fault

Got a strange fault on the now, yesterday morning as i was driving home from work i noticed my intermittant wipers had stopped working, all other wiper settings working ok, so thought the relay was on the blink but when i went back to the car in the afternoon the wipers were working fine so thought it might have just been the cold. Was out driving today and everything was working fine then all of a sudden all wiper modes stopped working ( which is not good in the pissing rain) along with the electric windows and washer units. anybody any idea's? all help graetly appreciated !!!

Gee

Right, ive managed to trace the fault to No8 20A fuse under the dash which feeds all of the above, problem is likely to be the intermittant wiper realy going faulty, the only thing i can think that would pull such high current, but ive no ideqa where it is on a 2003 model, anybody any idea's?

I would guess, something on the circuit has corrosion on it and a high resistance is building as it gets too hot.

Pull the fuse & replace it & do the same with any connectors you can see from the fuse board to the wiper motor.

Squirt of contact cleaner might help.

Could be the wiper motor starting to seize?

High current ought to blow the fuse if it were that.

Might be worn brushes, causing the hot spot.

It's gotta be something that gets better when it all cools down. High resistance near the fuse somewhere is a likely cause.

Right, after changing the blown 20 A fuse everything seemed to be ok, but the original prob with the intermittant wipers has resurfaced again, anybody any idea's where the relay is on a 2003 model because f**ked if i can find it lol

If you have AA cover they will come out for this - having the wipers working is fundamental to driving - had something similar when i had my A3 and thought bugger it id call them and they did come out and fix it !

Eventually found the faulty intermittant wiper relay, its in front of the drivers side in the engine bay, right under the washer bottle in its own little protective cover that doesnt work worth a shit as the relay was full of water and dirt which has caused the contact to ark to each other burning a hole in the armature contact , so new relay for me..........Got to be the most stupid place ive found a important electrical circuit in a car, right under where you fill up with water, silly honda lol

That'd be causing the high resistance!

Glad you got it sorted in the end.
