its had a new tct, oil is mobil 1, it has always done it from the day i bought it 32,000 miles, it also when cold rattles at about 3500 - 5000 ish, when i say cold i mean with 2 temp bars on the dash but it doesn't do it when its hot, it's not injector noise it is more a valve or cam sort of noise

When you say rattle, do you mean like a tappetty noise?

That could be valve clearances.

Rich, how much did Honda charge for checking and changing your valve clearances?

Hi jamie. i had it done as apart of the 54k service (actual mileage was 51k).

The engine tone changes alot its a much deeper tone now , this is what makes me think this is what the op's problem is.

Cheers Rich.

My 54k service is early next year, so I might get that checked a bit sooner. Have you noticed any drop in oil consumption as well since the valve clearances were done?
