Default Engine management light.

Hi guys,

Would a tdc sensor error and entering limp mode cause the engine management light to come on?

I have a cable and some software ive been using to check, and ive fixed the problem now but never noticed an engine management light come on which is making me wonder if the bulb has been removed for some reason?

thanks!

reminds me of bloke that posted on here having bought a car where the CEL had been covered over with permanent marker! could be a failed bulb but could also be disconected by a previous owner, trader.

I can't remember if the CEL light shows at ignition on time, I would check but my car's away for a week or so. There are a variety of ways to trigger your CEL to check the light. Turning the ignition on with the ECU fuse out has triggered my CEL before . Starting up from cold with the air pump fuse pulled should also trigger the CEL straight away.

Thanks guys. I need to take the dash apart anyway so will take the clocks out and have a good look. There are 3 permanent codes on the ecu when i check it and thats just because ive removed all the air conditioning and air pump stuff.
