Default ES02JZ Tyres no longer available?

Just phoned August Motors in Salisbury, and they tell me that the standard rear tyre part for pre-04 S2000s, 225/50R16ES02JZ are no longer made by Bridgestone.

The Honda-recommended replacement is 225/50R16 92WS02JZN3 - which is the Boxster part. But isn't that the one that Bridgestone has been telling us isn't suitable for the S

On the up side, fitting all 4 tyres is going to be only just over

Hmm. They're still quoted on the Event Mobile Tyres website http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/index.php. Anyone else heard about this?

Yep, I checked there beforehand. Thought I'd see what the dealer could do, especially as I needed somewhere to deliver brakes and brake fluid to!

I thought Bridgestone were recommending the RE050?

I'm suprised they're still making the Porch tyres; you'd think they'd drop that as well.

There's generic RE050s in the 16" sizes...

My guy still gets S02ZJ's although there was a shortage last week from eTyres and Event no mention of dropping them, even NTS could get them.

They are still available from stocks, but production has ceased a while back now.

Bare in mind any S02s out there now are likely to old and the rubber does start to perish after a while.

Not sure how much effect this has, but I have been warned about it.

Perhaps it's time to upgrade the wheels, then. I like my 16" rims!
Of course, if the S is going to be ragged around the Nurburgring soon, I'd prefer not to have the tyres disintegrate out of Bruenchen...

From the tech FAQ, from the Bridgestone chappie:
The above products are the only Bridgestone fitments for the Honda S2000 and should not be confused with the Porsche 968 fitments of:

Front : 205/55 ZR16 Z S02 JZ (N3)

Rear : 225/50 ZR16 Z S02 JZ (N3)
I'm worried now... perhaps I should email Bridgestone!
