There's generic RE050s in the 16" sizes...
Yep, just checked on Bridgestone's tyre checker.
They recommend RE050As. Interesting that Honda don't.
And the Technician at the dealer said that the Boxster ones are likely to wear faster, which suggests stickier, wet-weather biased tyres. Which I'm not too happy about.
Just checked on Event Tyres and they're not showing 225/50R16 S02s specific for S2000 any more. Must've changed at the beginning of June. Curiously, S02s on the front are still available and there's no RE050A front.

So has anyone else run into this problem yet? Or are you all on 19" pimp my ride wheels now?

I wouldn't say that. Wearing faster means stickier, yes, but that's all good in my book. What concerns me is that the RE050As and others will be harder wearing, which means less grip. For track use, I really don't want tyres that last me three years.

RE050As don't come in the recommended 245/45/16, just 225/50/16.

I'm doing Angelsey before The Ring, and I'm not sure if that'll kill them off or whether they'll survice the Ring trip too, but either way I'm going to have to make a decision on what to get next before too long. I don't really want to lose my JDM BBS 16" wheels, and there's no 17s I like that aren't silly money.

Of course, if I only do 3000 miles a year, I'd expect my tires to last 3 years. This set has seen last easter at the Ring (8 laps) and Silverstone last October (lots of laps).
I'm kinda happy with the stickiness of the standard items TBH.
To clarify: Bridgestone recommended 205/55/16 (front) and 225/50/16 (rear). Event tyres don't have the former in RE050As. They do have RE040s at 91W (instead of 89W).

You only did 8 laps? I think I did 25 last Easter.

Only if you can keep them fresh.

The rears I got in March were already over a year old (according to Chris Franklin).

I was taking in the atmosphere - and waiting for it to dry out - and recovering from the beer the night before.

Hmmmm.... so if not, why don't Bridgestone recommend them any more?

Event are coming round to fit a set of RE050As to my 16"s next week ready for le mans. I had a good chat with the Bridgestone tech department who pointed out that while they didn't have as aggressive a tread pattern as the ES02 they would still be more than capable for 99% of road situations and substantially better than the ES02 in the wet (thank god!).

I'm having my spare wheels shod with R888s so I should have the perfect combination for road and track for the next year or so.
