Default Exhaust info and making my s lounder please?

Hi i have recently added a aftermarket intake which makes it sound alot nicer

however i am now looking at making it sound even better, which i guess is through exhaust. However i do not no much about exhausts, do i need a full system, just a de-cat pipe on standard, test pipe (dont no what that is).

searching other threads just has confused me even more. how can i make it sound how i want?[B]

A test pipe is another name for a decat pipe.

In order of loudness (IMO)

OEM: + Its OEM - Weighs a tonne.

Mugen AP1: + Build - Looks shite.

HKS Silent: + Last longer than Hyper - Doesn't sound like Hyper so Pointless.

Amuse Dual: + Sound, weight - Brittle, cost.

Mugen AP2: + Build, sound - Expensive.

HKS Hyper: + Sound - Mild Steel so rots.

5Zigen MF Single: + Sound - Weighs more than it should, looks.

Invidia: + Cheap - It is Loud.

Spoon Single: + Power gains - Your Neighbors will hate you, looks

You can do want i did, cut out the stock backboxes and replace with magnflows not some tat off ebay. I have a decat aswell. Though i had larger piping from the 'Y' back and retained my nice stock oval tailpipes.

I did a thread on this about 2 month ago, so search for that if your interested.

I was interested in louder/nicer sounding but not too loud exhaust (worked out fine for me just what i wanted) i worked out i lost about 5kg too.

BTW duals power wise you wont yeild much, singles then you do but as Steven says above.

I have owned a single one of the best in the past and it was far too loud.

Yes thats correct, intially folk thought it would be hit and miss but it sounds fine.

Decat is a hollow pipe that all - less restriction, can remove drone, slightly more power, but kinda illegal and wont pass MOT.

Single - and single exhaust system CATBACK, so one backbox at the end or can at the end.

Dual - as above but 'two' backboxes like stock you have ATM.

So really if i just replace the two backboxes that should make it sound nicer but not over the top? Where did you get your from and is there many options for backboxes?

Cheers for the info btw

FYI, Useful used to run that PRM you now have with an HKS (the mild steel one) exhaust and it was a great combo. He didn't have a decat so the drone was pretty bad although you could drive around that by not holding it in the 4-5K rpm range.

There are lots of other options now. there is an official exhaust thread in the main area. that has most of the systems listed. Systems such as the blue flame one on the UK suppliers area will probably not be listed in that thread but are cheaper as they are made over here.

I would suggest that you read the Blue Flame thread and then negotiate a deal whereby you have a try before you buy and put a write up on the forum.
