Default Face Lift or Pre

Hi Guys,

I am looking at S2000's and in the price range I am in keep coming across the odd facelift model which I think looks great and then the more pre facelifts.

Are their any major things I should know about differences between the two? I have heard a few differences but wouldn't mind getting the record straight. The facelift model I looked at was an 04, but obviously I am paying for it being a facelift....Any performance difference between the two?

I do not really want to go older than an 03 and would preferably go for an 04 or 05. But my price range holds me to 04 and below.

Please let me know any major differences or problems I should before making my decision.....Or is is simply the Look that has changed.

Thanks in advance guys & Gals

Have a look in the FAQ for the list of diferences.

Also note that the newer cars are softer/gayer/uglier. (this bit will no doubt get edited out though )

I was in a similar situation to you - I ended up going the extra bit further for an 04......main reasons were:

- I preferred the newer look (deeper rear bumper and new interior trim)
- Heard the handling was slightly easier on the limit with 04+
- Warranty period remaining (I got 14months).

Taking delivery very soon.........

A quick sum up of the '04 changes.

Different front and rear bumpers
Oval exit exhausts, with a slightly fruitier note
17" alloys
Firmed up rear suspension
Improved throttle respsonse
Slight interior re-design

I've driven a '04 demo from Ascot Honda and I now own a '02, and I couldn't really tell the difference between the exhaust notes, suspension or throttle response. I don't doubt they have changed them, but I never noticed the difference.

Ok cool, I actually think the 04 is better looking!

The trim is great inside, and love the extra touch! I suppose you will get a few 04's with warranty too.

The most defined part of the 04 model is the new headlamps, I think they are superb.

Thanks for your input guys, I think I will end up paying that little bit extra and going for an 04

Had both, no one ever said a word about my 02.

Most people very complimentary about the 04. Thats just
looks though!

My 02 was more trouble than my Lotus Elise...

Once you've seen the 04+ wheels you realise that the older 03 and before wheels are a bit dull and look too small now IMO!
