Default Factory Fitted Immobilizer?

Insurance quotes are starting to get more and more complex. Does the S2000 have a factory fitted immobilizer in the standard UK spec? I know the ignition times out if you don't start after a certain time of operating the central locking - but does this count? They're also now questioning whether it's a UK spec euro import - why on earth does this matter?

Search - search search... my friend

OK - The older cars. eg Yours - has a Hamilton Palmer unit fitted. Honda UK did this to all cars.

Newer cars had the immobiliser factory fitted.

A simple search would reveal this. Try it out next time.

UK Spec Euro imports generally cost less, so they can pay out less.

From 99 - 03 all UK spec cars had a factory fitted immobiliser (including Euro imports).

However, Honda UK in their wisdom decided to have a POS alarm fitted to the cars after they were imported into the UK.

From 04 onwards an OEM alarm was fitted to the car before it left the factory.

Cheers Esem.
A lot of the old posts point to HP fitting the immobiliser.

Ignition time-out in connection of operation of any button is not a 'standard' immobilizer function as regular EU (or even US) spec cars have.

Chance is that you have an immobilizer function 'on top of' the factory immobilizer (which has the communicating chip embedded in the ignition key).

Don't know if JDM versions have the immobilizer chip in the ignition key, but my uneducated guess is they have this globally.

The UK cars actually have two, one of them being part of the Hamilton Palmer unit.
