filled with oil. going off the sound of the engine - the engine itself is ok. (doesnt sound like any is wrong with it at all)

yes it was from a member here, although i dont think it's an active member (she gave me the details of this community).

like i said, it never came on during road-test (private sale), so it could well be coincidence that sommat has died now i've got my hands on it. either way - no waranty implied or given

i'll grab the code on monday when i get into work. we got the honda diag kit at work too light is back on permanently again (lasted about 10-15mile between reset&permanent fault)
hope it aint injectors - thats gonna cost. hoping it's something cheaper like coil pack, or map sensor. such a shame it's all pc based diagnotics now, no more blink codes

final thing - could using sainsburys 95ron unleaded fuel cause this? couldnt get acces to 97ron becuase i needed fuel there and then, was the closest petrol station.

No - A jap import had a higher compression ratio and also has an ECU which runs more agressive timing, mapped for 100 RON fuel.

Using 95 would be very unwise IMO.

The ECU has some scope to adjust the timing for low grade fuel, but 95 is a long way off 100.

It would be very likely to be experiencing some knock / detonation.

ok, got it on diags:
P0301 and P0303 (misfire on cyl 1 & 3).

swap coil packs 1>2, 3>4. missfire moves to cyl 1 & 2.

swapped coil packs 1+2 to 3+4, still misfire, but strugling to get the light to stay on. (always intermittent 'general' misfire). engine seems to of picked up pace now aswell, not 100%, but noticably better than at weekend.

gonna drive it home with loan of the honda kit for the night, and see if i can get light to stay on!

is it really possible that 2 coil packs could be down?

edit: just read ur reply, only stuck 1 tank in it of 95. whack in some 97 tonight then...

well that was stupid :/

spark plugs are more like 3mm gapped than 1mm. gonna grab some tomorrow and all will be good

here's me diving in with diag kits, and all it needed was basic maintenance!

edit: and i got some 97RON in it now aswell... tesco's own brand because yet again it was the closest and i needed fuel, gonna try and get shell fuel though or BP as i get some nectar points too

should really use 99 ron either v power or tesco.

if oil was that low then clear car not maintained and it could have done many many miles with low oil. ie top up, forget about it for a few months, top up again etc etc

i would take it to honda. if it needs major work it needs major work and there is no escaping.
