[QUOTE=s2k_Nut,Oct 4 2008, 03:28 AM]From the NA point of view, I know from being a passenger in Mikey's S that I would miss the VTEC surge, and I would miss the noise too.

If it were me and I had lots of money to play with, I would get a 280 bhp NA setup.

I have never really looked into it but the J's racing engine would be fun - 280-300 bhp

Ok I know the cost would be ridiculous, but it's never been done over here and it would be extemely quick.

I always felt the S needed 30-40 bhp more, and not much more than that, not without a lot of other mods anyway.

There is the option of another car too?

you could keep the Vtec surge, its just an adjustment to the map
I think the reason it goes away is the transition point is lowered to 4.5K and the map smothed out. Think of it as increasing the power below the vtec point rather than loosing the kick
Exactly

S2k_nut - like I said Mase flattened the transition, lowered the vtec and upped the redline. All of which could be set to give a more orignal feel.
THe stock set up did have that.

I had a blast in an Aston Martin V8 vantage today.
Needed a bit of a pick me up and decided they are "cheap" enough now.
Came away very no where near as good as I had hoped.
420 BHP S with suspension mods is an awesome tool!

For me N/A is about the reponse and the sound, how aggressive the car feels when it comes on cam, it's not about the out and out power or straightline performance so people shouldn't compare the two like that. It's obvious any car running boost will be faster but will it give that special N/A feeling?

When I get to the point where I start thinking about FI all's I do is watch the pacman video and it sorts me right out

230whp + shorter gears - 100kg = perfection!

How about:

326whp + shorter gears - 80kg?

(It would be *very* expensive to get 230whp NA)

I am really tempted to go for a built and strokered engine with an AEM... but I just see FI or big NA work as a botomless pit, hence I swapped cars. That and I really went off the idea of doing surgery on the car. I have much respect for those who have done it though, as it's a big step.

If you like tinkering / modifying, and having surgery done on the car doesn't bother you then I would go for the Rotrex Andy!

If you want to be brave try a Greddy type Turbo.

Really brave, delve into the Toda catlalog!

Once FI, which for the vortech and comptech require the least accompaning mods, ie clutch ems etc.

there are the following to consider - in terms of running costs they increase cost of ownership but not substantially - over the cost of a year the running cost probably increases about
