so can i just grease the bushes or still get them removed and greased. Any recommended grease to use

i have seen that i need some grease for the roof joints as its convertible, so will buy some of that
It's the bolt that get greased. The inner collar of a bush gets greased when the bolt is put back in

IIWU, read the FAQ for more info, or have a search. In short, take it to Centre Gravity (Google them) to get the work done. Chris is a genious and the car will handle like a dream. I wouldn't DIY if you know little about the car, leave it to a pro and learn by watching him do it. Once the bolt is removed, it need to be put back into the correct position, so you can't just remove it, grease, then put back in, it needs a professional setup. Copper grease is what they'll use.

Silicon grease keeps the roof seals in good nick. Lithium grease is good for keeping the working parts of the roof lubricated.

any recommendations of what to do once got the car, thinking about some mods etc but it seems to be limited for the newer models
You can tune all the same things from 1999 to 2009, some plastic bits differ but thats about it.

Supsension work is a rewarding thing to do on these cars.

Driver experience/training is where its at though.
To wring out 10/10ths takes a massive amount of skill over other cheap cars.

Steve.

Another vote here for most of what’s been said.

A geo totally changed my new car from a twitchy beast to a smooth racer.
Plus 4 new matching tyres set to correct pressures.
Then 2 hours of tuition at a pro-drive track with a skidpan gave me a bit of an education how to drive it. (and how not to)

Oh, I also did a manual adjustment to the roof catches to stop the wind noise.
As an 08 yours probably won’t need that for a few years.
