I should do a poll along the lines of "Would you buy a car that had been serviced by me?"

I know I wouldn't!

Having said that, there are some very mechanically competent folk here.

Just had my 72k service today along with an mot. Went main dealer as usual, but western honda in edinburgh have half price servicing, so including the £45 mot it was £203 all in.
Pretty pleased with that, i also get the crv done there and they havent screwed anything up yet

I know where you're coming from Neil but when money is tight, something has to give. I know they do as good if not better service. I even supplied the page from the PDF manual with the torque settings for the oil filter just to be on the safe side. I just couldn't justify a £300 service plus £50 worth of fuel for the annual trip over. When it boils done to it they've only changed all the oils and given it a check over (basically followed the service sheet).
The Value clearances isn't rocket science if you read the manual or follow a tutorial on YouTube, honest

Anyway, I got them to do the valve timing and change some oil seals on the Teg and the engine was never the same - rattled and sounded rough as anything. They had 3 goes at sorting it before I ended up selling the cars. Basically when it came to trying to solve it they were lost.

I still get them to do other work, and the rattle may have been coincidental so I am not blaming them for it, but for the S2000 and the ATR any major jobs - clutch, timing belt, valve clearances will be done by either a Honda specialist or a main dealer. VTECdirect did around £700 work for me on the ATR which would have been £1000+ at a dealer.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get Lloyds to do the S2000s clutch. I just know it'll be done right with someone with the right tools. I do understand that other people don't trust their dealers as I do mine though
