first real blast in my S
hi all,
got back today from two days of blasting around the highlands in my S - it was absolutely brilliant!
this is the first real bit of open road fun i've had and it was just amazing
the route:
glasgow > loch lomond > gairlochead > oban (stayed overnight) > fort william > eilean donan castle (where they filmed highlander!) > inverness (stayed overnight) > aberdeen > dundee > glasgow
loved the way the car just soaked up the road - very comfortable ride - sailed by loads of other cars with no trouble at all - made loads of heads turn with the cars looks / engine noise - fave one was 10 wee boys at a school all peering through the railings and pointing as we were sitting at some traffic lights in some random village.
the weather wasn't great and was raining a lot of the time but it didn't ruin the trip - the car was very sure-footed at all times and the back end only slid a little bit when i tried to make it do it - at low speeds!
the scenery driving up by loch long on the way to eilean donan castle was the most breathtaking scenery i've ever seen - absolutely gorgeous - if you've never made it uo this way then DO IT!!! - loch ness wasn't too shabby either - would have got some good pics if it wasn't for the weather - will definitely be going up again though when the sun is out!
ran into a convoy of 3 ctr's on the way through fort william - pulled in at a garage for a chat and found that they were all from the type-r scotland forum that i'm still a member of - tagged alog with them up to the castle since they were going that way too - i stayed at the back but man they were seriously moving - bit too fast for the wet conditions i actually thought - but i kept up no probs and would have had some more fun with them if it had been dry
here's a pic from the castle car park : http://ambdesign.net/car/rt0404_2.jpg
i'm still getting used to the S so i wasn';t going to crazy but i just loved the wasy the car handled on the whole drive - i'm so glad i took the plunge and traded in the ctr for the S - lovin' it!
cheers,
billy
