Default First service oil question

This is probably a slightly daft question but here goes:

I'm now due my first service at 7500 miles. Presumably you should put in mineral grade oil until 9000 miles at which point you can change to a full synthetic. Is this correct?

What does the first service involve, and roughly how much should it cost?

Before anyone says do a search I have and am cotinuing to have an on going battle with it (have in the process read some interesting threads) and figured it would be quicker to call upon the collective wisdom.

Cheers

David

I went fully synthed (Esso Ultron) at 6k. It only needs additives >6k. You can stay mineral but at 7.5k go synth.

(PS its done 9950, so nearly 4k more and it`s still sweet).
