I know this is covered by the manual but my bother-in-law borrowed mine and decided to go to the USA for 2 weeks!

My dealer has written to me advising that a service is due. The car is 12 months old and done 6.5k miles - I had the oil changed at 4.5k.

Is a service required annually or is it mileage based (or is it "whatever comes first") - if it's mileage based, what is the service interval?

If you have your manual handy or been here before.............

Recomended Service is 9000mile or 12 months. For the sake of maintaining the correct service history is probably worth getting it done. BTW why did you change the oil at 4.5K? I thought this was only required under severe conditions.

Regarding the oil change - The 4.5 mile change seemed to be the collective wisdom from around the world - we all drive the car hard I'm sure but this was perhaps only for the first change.

I changed to Mobil1 - car is superb! only nominal oil usage since oil change

I'll give the dealer a call (maybe I'll take my own oil)

My car went in for its 1st sevice about 2 months ago (9007 miles on the clock ). Up until this point the car, regular as clockwork, used 1ltr oil per 1000 miles. Since the oil change (Shell Helix 5w-40 fully synth) the car has not used a drop of oil How does that work then???
