Default First test

Well lads my first test for speed in my new S was tonight and it was a bit of a let down.I ran with a VXR.I found that when we were side by side the gear ratio was all wrong in the S.I was at 5k in 3rd gear for first run and he boosted and left me sitting there waiting for 6k.I felt like it took very long to get the 1k in the rev range. We were going to fast to drop to second so i was snookered! We gave it another go but we weren't side by side there was maybe 3 car lengths between us I felt the car pulling and noticed it once i was in vtec but it just wouldn't pull fast enough to make up the distance.
Anyone else feel like its very hard to get from 5k to vtec when needed!Maybe i am expecting too much out of my S.Last car was a 359bhp ITR turbo the drop in performance might need getting used to

good play safe! the s does sometimes feel 'slow' but i found that you always need to be in one gear lower than you think ! remember when that Vtec kicks in weeee what fun ! and if the suns out roof is down then the smile on your face will tell you how fun the car is

The gear stick is great at getting the revs up.

Try pulling in 2nd next time, you'll have enough rpm range to use it meaningfully

5k in 3rd is around 50 so dropping to 2nd would put the engine around 7300rpm - plenty left to play with there! Just make sure you rev match and away you go!

Or you could look at changing your final drive, sounds like one of the best performance mods going off the feedback on here. I know its on the agenda for me in the future. There are some vids on youtube that demonstrate the difference in performance.
