First trackday...

First trackday...
Had my first track day yesterday, and it was fantastic! Thought I'd write it up for you lot as I've bored everyone else to death banging on about it.
I was nervous about doing a trackday as the S is my only car and I use it daily, but there was nothing to fear.
Went to a novice evening organised by Motor sport vision at Bedford Autodrome.
Its a brilliant circuit to learn on as its so flat. There is nothing to crash into except the barrier along the striaght. The run off areas are just grass and also a lot of tarmac.
The gave us the saftey briefing then took us around the circuit in mini buses showing us the line to take. Then into the pits for 2.5 hours of open pit lane.
I must admit I was kaking it while waiting to join the track. A few others I spoke to said the same so we were all in the same boat. Wasnt all novices, there were a few people who looked like trackday experts. There was no pressure, you just go as fast as you want, but after a few laps you'll be going as fast as you can.
I did 3 stints which were a few laps followed by a cool down lap.
I was amazed at the S. I thought that I'd driven it hard on the roads, but the high speed corners just make you realise how good the S is. I was side ways a few times, but managed to correct it before spinning. I guess the S02s were at their best in the hot weather and hot surface. They certainly looked abused by the end....
I dont think there is much less tread that I started with.
The S just loved the super smooth surface. I've noticed mine feels a bit twitchy over bumpy surfaces I suspect because its lowered.

I'm in numbers MSV_0111 onwards.
The car was obviously so much faster than I could drive it. It was faultless all evening and drove home like nothing had ever happened. Not a scratch added to the car, worse thing was the amount of brake dust on the alloys.
I did take insurance which cost

You can get 130mph on the long straight. You swing really wide on the last right-hander before the straight, left foot braking to counter the understeer and turn whilst basically touching the outside of the track, this straightens the last part of the left-hander and allows a good exit. The hardest part of the track for me that bit, but really satisfying when you get it right.
Also helps that you can carry much more speed through the fast left-right at the end of that straight by turning left, straightlining the middle and taking the right really wide, well over the white line.
Welcome to the addiction...
