Default fitting K&N 57i kit, quick question

Right,

Started fitting the K&N kit I got recently and it is proving to be a bit more difficult than i thought. first of all some of the pipe work that need to be removed was a bugger to get off! two cut fingers and a bashed elbow
Not gonna get any sympathy here so I'll continue...

Just getting to fitting the heat shield and it says to wrap the provided edge trim to the shield.... Now my question is...
How in the #### do you do this without cutting the trim?? Or is that it? does one have to cut the trim in order to get it to fit??

Please help, I'm almost there but don't want to do anything stupid and cut the trim and find it renders the seal useless.

Oisin

I cut parts of the trim to allow it to fit with no problems with the seal. I didn't cut the rubber, just the harder material which you need to fit onto the heatshield to allow it to bend.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you want photos.

Thanks lads,

I cut mine last night too..
I reckon Sarren has the right idea. I cut the rubber and the harder material at one of the really awkward bends and now the seal isn't 100%
I reckon it wont make that much of a difference though..

Anyway, cheers for the imput.
Love the sound even though it is a bit boy racer..
