Kate - it is possible that the combination of age and cold cracked your plastic window. All plastics lose their plasticiser with time and become brittle so it might just be bad luck. Agree with Neil H getting a new hood with the glass window will be the smart move. Also using a specialist to fit it is a good plan. Post about how good a job Carhood Warehouse do for you?
I suppose it is possible but it was fine the day before it was cleaned, seems like a strange coincidence.

I've just checked with Carhood Warehouse, they are working on a conversion to a glass window but 'its not up to scratch yet so its not available as yet'.

I'll go ahead with getting the plastic replaced and I'll post up the results.

The dealer is Newton Honda in Croydon.
Whilst I hve never spent money with them, as the nearest dealer to my place of work I have sounded out Newton sales and service people on a number of issues over the years and they have been consistently appauling in both the way they have handled my enquiries and the lack of technical knowledge they exhibit.

Not unless you put a new roof in Neil. Funny, the glass doesn't seem to fold as well as the plastic screen
I've seen at least one guide on here which details how to use the old frame with a glass roof, it requires some drilling and some improvised elastic but it didn't seem particularly taxing for a grease monkey (ie not me).

If that is Thames Honda in Thames Ditton / Surbiton they are not very knowledgable about the S IMHO and I often find that a call to Honda UK can help it along a bit.

Customer service isn't exactly enthusiastic either!

That is exactly what I found, they did an OK job. But as Honda says in it's adverts ok is not enough.
They weren't that knowledgable and just didn't have ANY enthusiasm in the S and frankly that's not good enough for Honda's second most premium car. So I took my business elsewhere on recommendation from a board member - FW Mays in Redhill, quite a bit further away but I work towards that way and you can tell the guys who run the service dept really appreciate the Type Rs and Ss and they are knowledgable and helpful. I'd recommend them.

I've been using them purely because they are so close, a 5 minute walk from me. But they are appalling. So far they have never cleaned the car after a service and when I range up once to enquire about something, the guy in Parts didn't realise the S2000 was a softtop.

The best one was I got brand new rear tyres fitted at my service, I then had the MOT done a couple of months later and had done no more than 300 miles. Out of 10 they gave the new tyres a 5 for wear. When I enquired they just shrugged.

Ah! Do you park your car on the road (cant remember the name, but opposite side of the road to Newton and up the hill a bit!) - if so, I drive past it most mornings!

LOL! Indeed I do, if you look at the poor S2000 now, you will see the back screen with black tape all over it.

Oh deary me..........sounds very sad.

School hol's have meant mercyfully lighter traffic in Croydon this week so I have been running straight down the Brighton road insead of ducking and diving through the back roads.

I may detour tomorrow just to say 'hi' to your poor car

(If you see a salt encrusted Silverstone car, reg. S2X00, that'll be me).

I'll wave if I see you! I used to use the S to commute to work in the Docklands but have given up because of the traffic, I'm on a motorbike these days. So don't be surprised if you get a wave from someone on a blue SV650S with a rather loud exhaust
