Default Fog Light Bracket Replacement

The brackets holding my fog light have corroded and snapped. Is there an easy way to get access to the fog light to fix it via the number plate surround or is it a case of completely removing the rear bumper?

FWIW, it would be easier to remove the bumper

It's well worth the effort to remove the bumper, but if the fog-lamp fixing have rusted through, be prepared to find considerable corrosion of the number-plate surround fixings, the number-plate lamp screws and the bumper beam itself. Since it's hidden away, Honda apparently didn't bother rustproofing the steel work, so do buy a tin of rust treatment in preparation. Plus, you'll get the chance to remove all the gravel that has collected there!

Nice to just meet you Mr.Astage, as I'm going to be doing this bracket replacement tomorrow or in the next few days the above advice will be obviously noted and I'll let you guys know how I got on.

Remove bumper, I had trouble getting the 2 fixings out that go through the bottom of the bumper in any case and had to grind them of. Then I had trouble removing the 2 screws that hold the lamp assembly to the brackets and had to drill these 2 screws out. ( these screws also hold the lens on )

I fabricated 2 new brackets from and bit of 1.5 stianless sheet

You won't need much - stainless will naturally be better.
