Default Formula for window 'rubber' help required

When I met up with IanL last week, he suggested that there is something which should be applied to the rubber between the roof and side windows, which keeps it supple and 'water tight'. I'll call 2 Honda garages and they're both a bit confused and say that they've never heard of anything.

Is anyone aware of this, and does anyone know where I can get some?

Thanks

If you like smearing Silcone onto your window rubbers then Honda's Shin Etsu grease is what is recommended. Personally I avoid Silicone like the plague, especially around the car and its paintwork. Vaseline has been put forward as a good substitute (as used by Ferrari ) and I use Zymol's "Seal" treatment. The Shin Etsu no doubt works very well but can be messy.

You mean the Shin-Etsu Silicone grease? It's mentioned in the owners handbook, page 93. Some dealers use alternative products on the Del-Sol, so they may have something in stock. The reason your dealer cannot find it, is because they are probably looking under parts. When I was looking the Honda Customer Centre hadn't a clue either They need to search for it under oils/greases! The Honda part number is 08798-9013

Are you sure it's vasaline?
I was told it rots rubber as it's petrolium based

vaseline is not good with rubber as it oxidizes it.
