Default Forums suggestions?

Love this forum and lots of great people here who offer good advice. I have a few suggestions which could make this forum more clean and more organised.

we should have different sections like the For sale section should be split into 2 sections

Cars for sale
general for sale
Wanted

Forum announcements
Forum suggestions

Gallery
Vids
S2k chat - just chatting about s2k stuff
General chat - non s2k related/ football, games, etc....
Wheels section - talk about wheels
Exhaust Section - talk about exhuast
Technical section
Help section - for people who need fast answers
S2k common faults
Spooted/was it you section

It would also make it easier for people to find info about what they want rather than going through it all?

what you guys think? Has this been done before?

Cheers for reading

John

Just my thoughts

Have you tried here

On a more serious note I just posted something along the lines of what you're advocating in the 'this forum is changing' thread.

I wouldn't want to see half as many sub boards as you are suggesting, but a couple more may benefit the UK part of the site.

Splitting the forum so much is unneccessary, it would just make it a PITA to navigate and find something interesting. We get about 2 exhaust threads per month, hardly worth a forum all of it's own.

Too many sections.. by all means have a sub section or two for the less 'conversational' areas (For Sale for example), but in the other areas it would make it a nightmare to keep up with the latest posts.

How about having an option to have the "new posts" just return the UK ones?

On other forums I rarely look in the individual sections .. just at what's new.

You can tell whether a post is new by looking at the blue icon next to the subject, in fact if you click this it will take you to the last unread post.

Yeah, I know that, but then I have to click in "meets" and then "for sale" and then "chat" and then scan down the main list ..

On other forums I frequent I just look at the new stuff and then can quickly see what I'm interested in.

I have to say not sure I'm like the idea of soo many sub forums either.

You'd have to decide which is the most appropriate forum for your topic. Sounds straight forward enough but people already often post in the wrong forums and differing opinions will making this an bit of an issue.

Secondly I like the open plan design as I can see all the posts and choose to read or add to ones which are of interest to me. I may not go into sub sections assuming there wont be any of interest. I guess it's me just being lazy but open plan is convenient.
