Default Found this....

Cleaning the car today, and for the first time I noticed this!

I know this is the connection for the heated rear screen on my hardtop, however seeing how mine is a MY99, has this connection been retro-fitted?

Also, where is the switch likely to have been installed??

Many thanks, Chris

You have the hardtop mounts fitted to your car, I can see one of them.

The switch is inside one of the hardtop fitting brackets, passenger side? The one you are taking a photo of.

It's a plunger I think, the hardtop spike pushes it down letting the car know to bypass the softtop heated screen/roof button.

You can either sell the kit for about 300-400 quid or just buy a hardtop and mount it if you wanted.

I've got a hardtop. Just can't find the switch for the heated rear screen. I know the MY99 cars didn't come with one as standard (plastic softop screen), seems strange though to have the connection fitted, but no actual switch.

Cheggars,

The switch would be behind the gear lever on the drivers side next to the dreaded headlight washers switch. If its just got a blank fitted then the previous owner didnt fit it, or has removed it.
To see if the wiring for it is in place lift up the centre console, the wiring ends in a green plug roughly underneath where the switch would be. There might also be a relay in place under the dash. See the topic further down the forum on the centre console for its position. If the plug is there and the relay, you might only be missing the switch.

Ah cool! Will have a butchers tomorrow. The previous owner has put an immobiliser touch key where the blank switch would normally be. Hopefully the wiring and relay is all there and I just need the switch!!
