Update:

I emailed the seller some hours ago, and they have responded at last. Note the lack of answers to my questions...

From me:

Hiya

Can you tell me a little more about the car please? How many owners has it had? Is this a private sale or trade?
Where are you so I can see the vehicle, and is it possible to test drive it? Also is there any history of damage, accidents. Any kerbing to the alloys etc?
How come the car is so cheap, as it seems to be roughly half the normal price for a similar spec car?

thanks.

hi,
i would like you to know that the car is in excellent condition - inside and outside, mechanical and electrical. i will be shortly, as I have many inquiries: UK specs, UK plates, UK supplied, no liens and condition like new! there is no catch here, the price is real, the only reason why we are selling the car is that we have moved house in Madrid, Spain and we would like to buy a new left hand drive van. i would rather sell the car than put in storage (which is still a valid option). The car is stored in a warehouse in London and it will be shipped from there. The full price is 6,000 pounds with shipping costs included. The transaction will be done through eBay for our own protection. Your funds will be 100% insured by eBay and I will be sure that I will receive the payment, this way both of us will start the deal with good faith so we can take it to a smooth end. After the payment is cleared and confirmed by eBay i will ship you the car in no time. You will have 10 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep the car or not. Once the car arrives if you find it different then i describe it you will be refunded by eBay and you wont lose nothing. If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and shipping address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
kind regards,
Ruth Pattison

I can almost hear the Nigerean accent as I read that

Not sure plod will do anything at this stage, as he has not passed the threshold of 'doing something mearly more than preparatory" to suggest the offence. I know it sucks donkey balls, I'm just giving you a heads up that this is probably what they'll say.

Come to think of it, that name is awfully familiar. I'm sure when I had my Impreza for sale on autotrader, I was contacted by Ruth Pattison, it was so obviously a scam email saying they'll pay me more than the car's worth with bankers draft and they'll cover all shipping fees blah blah blah.....

I think as soon as you place an on the trader with your email visible, they just do mailshots to everyone on there.

B**tards. That is all I can say.

At least if I let Plod know though they might be able to tie it up with other investigations. Also if some poor sap falls for this, and then provides the reg of the car they were supposed to buy to plod, and they come knocking at my door, I can at least say that it has been reported already.

Maybe Plod can make ebay take the ad down sooner? You would have thought Ebay would like to keep their reputation. Oh no wait. Silly me. What reputation...

I have also written to them through the online procedure for reporting fraudulent items.
Also told them how much negative press it is attracting, lets hope they listen to some of us founder members.

Listing Policy Breaches > Fraudulent listings (illegal seller demands, item not received, etc.) > You suspect that a listing is fraudulent (you didn't bid)
