Default Front drop links

Service at honda told me I needed to replace my front drop links. Where the best place to get these from. IV looked about and the prices range from £100 each from honda to £15 from eBay. Is this also a DIY job? Looks simple enough but I'd rather a garage slave away at getting the old one of if they are going to be welded on after all these years.

Cheers

John

very common issue

the £15 ebay ones do the job.. i think i have done all 4 on both my S2s

to get them off is easy enough, generally just bash the old one and then grip the ball head with mole grips and spanner the rusty nut off. the oem have a hex key inside the thread but rust ensures that wont help you get them off

Thanks, how long should new ones last? Was looking at getting the modified ones from teigwa with the hex nut on both sides to make it easier to change in the future?.

some of the ebay ones are like that too

swap is easy once the wheel is off

not sure any of my swaps have failed yet tbh.. i did one rear on my 2001 last year just before MOT and i had bought both, in the week before the MOT the other one gave up haha

the rears are easier from what i recall, all they are is a double ball joint to connect the arb

Just fitted the Hardrace ones to back and front , can’t say yet if they are worth the money i.e approx. £60.00 per set as car not driven since.
Had to cut the old ones off , a bit of a pain.

Don’t bother with expensive ones, cheap eBay ones will be fine and last probably as long as the more expensive ones.

Ditto - My eBay ones are about 7 years old and still doing fine

As others have said, many have a hex nut on the back side so you never have to deal with a rusty, cheese-soft Allen head when trying to remove them.
