Fuel Protests?
I must have looked a right T*T filling up this lunchtime. Headed out to Tesco for a sandwich and noticed half a dozen cars queueing at the Esso station. I have some 20L jerry cans in the boot that I use to fill the microlight with. The fuel station at Tesco was closed while they were waiting for their fuel delivery. That is why there was a queue at Esso. Anyway, I had to join the queue to get the fuel. Popped the boot and lifted out a couple of cans to fill, then top up the car. Nearly 80 litres, quite embarrasing as I wasn't hoarding fuel, just need it to fly. Anyway, the lady behind the couter said 'You know there isn't a fuel shortage' and explained why I bought nearly

.... it's all true you know .... madness out there!!!! Took day off today to chill and snooze after MM2 and decided to go do a big shop at Tescos. I didn't notice any untoward on the way in, but on the way out .....
.... they were queued for about half a mile and there was a chappie directing us out of the car park the wrong way round the roundabout!! I then drove by the Esso garage down the road and they were 3 deep and in the middle of the road trying to get in!!!
Not having spotted this thread but guessing what was up I took a trip onto the A12 heading towards Ipswich and sailed straight up to the pumps in the Shell place and filled up with Optimax
When I said to the cashier " I half expected you to have queues down the A12", he replied ... "We did earlier but it's all a load of rubbish ...there's no problem at all!"
So there you go chaps and chapesses ..... the words of wisdom from a nice little man at the Shell garage ..... no problem!!
Ooh and i got a free blue bag thingy that I've not investigated yet, but I got it cos I bought Optimax
I remember the last one. I was living about 2.5 miles from work in Reading so I used to cycle. Was extremely smug sailing past all the numpties queuing up at the BP Garage in Earley, waving at them with a grin on my face.
Lucky I didn't get run over come to think of it

I also remember the last one but not a pleasant memory!. Had driven up to Newcastle on business just as the mania hit. Was really lucky to get some fuel up there and ended up driving home at 50mph all the way to try and make it on a tank. Got home with the computer saying I had 5 miles of petrol left!!!. Phew!. Do not want to have to go through that again!. We are off to France on Saturday morning.........hate to say it but I will therefore be ensuring I have a full tank this week as there is no way this will b*gger up my holiday!. Just hope we don't see blockades etc. around Dover!.
