Fuel Protests?

I'm amazed how many people fall for the 'spank the naughty car' propoganda.
Modern cars are (as correctly stated above) less polluting (per passenger mile) than:
Aircraft
Electric trains
Buses
No effort has been made (except by Honda) to make domestic light & heat less inefficient.
The anti-car lobby uses pollution as a reason to limit personal freedom for ideological reasons. This suits the politicos, which is why one never hears the other side of the argument.
In the words of Spike Milligan, "copulation = population = pollution."
Mind you, he fathered an entire continent of offspring!

I did drive up to my local garage just now on the way back from work and ostentatiously shook my head in disbelief at the muppets queuing back onto the road. Then when the till guy asked me if I had any fuel after totting up the milk, bread etc, I made a point of quite loudly saying "No, I have half a tank - it's the idiotic sheep out there that are causing the situation" before sauntering out and driving off like the smug, self righteous tosser that I am

Just thought - I've got a 1/2 can of UL/two stroke oil sitting in the garage.
It's quite old and probably gone off by now.
Might pop it on Ebay & see how much I'm bid!
Simon, how much was that NSX-T?

1.009 per litre at Shell Letchworth. The cheap stuff & cooking oil have run out, and it's Optimax only. It must be quite a blow to people who are accustomed to regular unleaded prices

2. Can you really not afford the petrol anyway?
And your attitude of tough you live in the sticks again smacks of a real narrow mindness where other people are concerned.

Apologies for a lack of politeness, but your "I'm all right Jack" accusation is complete bollocks thank you.
1) I'd not change my attitude to this now matter how well off I was.
2) In fact I'm sure the less well off people care even less about the matter as they are less likely to have a car anyway.
3) I think the "I'm alright Jack" label is more suited to those who think we should continue to stuff the air with pollution for next to nothing.

2) What a sheltered world you must live in. Please tell me you are not serious?
3) Agreed. One of the biggest contributors to carbon dioxide levels = cement manufacturing for example. So lets tax the **** out of cement instead.

At least you'll admit to it!
