Default Future Classic

Apologies if this has been posted before - I have only just seen it. Not sure about the comment stating that early models are around £10K but good to get confirmation that values are on the rise:

Don't know where this idiot is getting his £10,000 from, not eBay or Auto trader, £6k is the absolute top asking price for early models, that doesn't mean they will fetch that, try an advanced search on eBay and see what they really sell for, the price is on the up, but not that much.

I don't think you can state 6k is absolute top for an 'early model' Rich.

Its clearly also a US article, and suspect the £ is a $ converted.

£6k Absolute top for a mint garage queen with very low mileage, and I did clearly state "asking" price, Do an eBay advanced search with completed listings ticked to find out what they are really selling for.
And if you are posting on a UK auction traders site you need to at least get the price right!

But saying 6k is 'top asking' is probably as wrong as 'top selling'

I know of many 00 to 02 cars currently for sale with asking prices way north of £6k. There's at least 3 on Pistonheads, and 4 on this site alone.

I know of a mega low mileage car which went for well over £6k too.

When I come to sell my road S2000, it will be advertised well above £6k with 95k miles too.

Enjoyed reading that, this bit being my favourite:
"This one will become a classic, because of what it did to the market when its production ceased. It left a gaping hole, which has even yet to be filled. Most people believe that the S2000 was simply Honda's answer to the Miata, but they couldn't be more wrong. The smiley Miata is all fun and games, the psychotic S2000 wants to kill you."

Regarding current prices, I might be wrong, but I wouldn't have thought eBay would be the best gauge of what the best cars go for. I only ever sell a car on eBay if it's a bit of a dog.

In Jan 2107 I paid £7.5k for a 2003 GT with hardtop and 89k miles, 2 owners, good condition. I think £6k is too low a figure for a reasonable S2k IMO.

They dont make stuff like this anymore. Psychotic NA engine, no TC, no fred shite. Brilliantly engineered and pretty simple, bar the engine internals, compared to modern metal.

so for me, def a future classic. I've tried a lot more
exotic stuff to no avail in terms of replacing mine.

Cracking cars.

i cgaf about prices though, i have 2 i wont sell
