Gearbox Additives- worth a shot?
Recently I have been having problems engaging 2nd gear in my S. Mainly from cold but also after a 10-20 minute run she is still difficult to engage, particularly on the down change. I know the S box is crap from cold but this problem seems to have got worse since I had the redline gearbox oil put in the box. Where I work (motor factors) we sell "WYNNS gearl oil treatment" which says that it can reduce friction and smooth the change. Is it worth adding some to my gear oil or am I asking for trouble.
There's a known problem with the synchromesh between 1st-2nd wearing out prematurely, if it happens when the oil is warm I'd say this could be your problem.
My gearbox loosened up noticeably when I had the oil changed for some Redline, this might be worth a try before getting the gearbox rebuilt (which I believe is the fix for the above problem).

I went out for some SUL at lunch time( 40 minute round trip) and gave the car some TEC and the box was pretty much spot on! I did move the drivers seat 1 click forward though last night in case it was me not pushing the clutch right down to the floor. I wonder if that would make a difference.????
