Default Geo bushes...

Hi there, I Am looking to buy an S2k and have found a nice example. With regards to the geo bushes and seizing, if the bolts are seized yet the geo set up feels ok and tyre wear is even etc do they still pose a problem? I ask because the car is an early model is it more likely that they will have seized?

Cheers for any help

it only becomes a problem if you want or need to alter anything
you can not get the bushes from honda they only supply the arms with bushes fitted and these are exspensive and the front compliance bolt + coller are about £72 each on there own.
so it would be far better to know the bolts turn before you buy.
good luck.

Running over a pothole hard can put it out and the S NEEDS correct geo, so it's important to be able to have it adjusted. If you find one you like get it to a garage and see if theres evidence of copperslip grease on the bushes if you aren't sure ask if its OK to pull one of the bolts out, if ones not greased it probable that none are, thats your cue to walk away or be prepared for a big bill getting it sorted.

The consensus is its important then, if theyare seized amd the geo is out by whatever margin how will that translate to the drive of the car, will the rear feel loose or like the car is crabbing or anything?

Hi there, if you search for one of my posts there is a big write up about my gro job with plenty of pictures. (I'm on my iPhone so can't find the thread).
I'm sure someone on here will find it for you.
Out of interest, how much have you got to spend on a car?

Andy

A lot of it is down to how the car has been used and where it has been stored. Garaged isnt always better if it has been used in the wet then put away. The only real way is to take the car for a 4 wheel alignment. Consider it £100 of your money well spent if you're serious about a car, it will pay for itself if it avoids a car that is seized solid.

Hi Andy, the car is circa £4k in red black interior with hardtop. But the clutch is gone so I am factoring in around £650 for an oem replacement and labour.
