Default going down problems

I'm having problems with my my02 s2000, it's got glass rear window if that counts.

When I press and hold the button for the top to go down, The first time it will go down but stop 6inches from fully down. Then put top up. Then top down, stops 3inches or so from down. Then up. Then 3rd time down, it goes all the way.

Today, I put ti down first time, it didn't go all the way. Released button. Waited 30 secs. Then pressed again and it went down. Have noticed on the run, that sometimes it will go down further as you pick up speed.

Is there something to grease? Is it a motor? Fabric too tight or stiff?

Popped in at local dealer, they said they would need it in to look, but had no ideas.

Thanks Jim

It always does this, nothing to worry about.

Mine does it very occasionaly, but 90% of the time it's fine. I think this tends to happen more when it's cold, but the problem can also be related to some elastic.

Have a look at my DIY here:

Roof elastic straps-making replacements

Mine weren't completely shot but the new ones made a big difference to the way the roof folds.

The glass ones sometimes do this when they are cold.
Use the above suggestions!
I have resorted to simply pushing the glass screen down and back as the roof goes down when it is very cold.
Simples!
