Default Hard Top winch

Having now bought a virtually new hardtop (and stand) from my local dealer I need to consider storage. It came with a stand but I would rather hang it from the roof and also use the space for a winch so I fit and remove at leisure on my own.

Has anyone else used this storage system and any recommendations before I start searching the internet.

Thanks

Search here comes up with a few results, this is probably the best https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/553...t__p__12178881

Thanks - there is a 250kg winch on Amazon for less than £60 delivered so just need to sort a frame. I may see if I can cannibalise the hard top stand that came with the roof.

Suprise there are not more bespoke solutions.

I use a winch from Easy Hoists - means I can store the lid under the garage ceiling, and can fit & remove it without help! Worth every penny!

Thanks - I am sure it's a great bit of kit but being a Yorkshire man I object to paying over £500 for a manual system.

I have bought an electric hoist for less than £60 delivered from Amazon and now just need to fabricate a lifting frame which - there are some good DIY solutions on the threads that Lovegroova found and a few frames from other convertibles that should do the trick so will report back when I have sorted/made one.

All kit arrived and less than £200 including electric winch . Have just had time to hand fasten the various parts this weekend but will finish up and post some final photos this month which may inspire a few others. Quite enjoyed making the frame and installing the winch .

my parents freelander roof is held up to the roof of our garage by two bungee straps, takes two people to remove it and place it on the straps, its perfectly safe and easy to do

Current work in progress. I have some nice black neoprene tube to cover it when I am happy with all dimensions.

Just need my fitting kit to arrive from the US
