Default Hardtop issues

Alas the time has come winter is nearly here and my brother wants the other half of his garage back to put his new slk away in (girrrl)

and I have an issue, the passenger side clip oin my hardtop is not sealing at all, the hook is seated in the loop and the bracket locks shut but there is absolutly no pressure there to seal it. There is about 5mm play in the hook ???

Any one got any ideas or the honda service bulletin for the hardtop ????

Have you had the HT on before, or is this the first time you've used it?

The catch certainly should be tight, and draw the front of the HT down onto the front rail, but there have been reports of HT's warping - something dealers may deny.

Personally I don't know how to adjust the catches, but it may be in the Tech Faq.

I've had the same problem with my hard top from new.
No adjustment will help it, in the end i put some plactic tube over the hook to help 'grab' the plate.
You can get it from pet shop that sell Fish tank parts, its the same tube they use on the pump systems.

I had exactly the same problem with my hard-top, in the end I took it to the dealer who had it fitted properly in 10 minutes.

What you need to do is push towards the back of the car on the passenger side window frame upright with all your strength (or get someone to help you) and the front should just pop into place.

It's a very common problem, apparently the dealers always have a rush of people as summer ends and they try to put their HTs back on....

Finally found the thread I posted about it:

/Edit having re-read your post it isn't exactly the same problem at all.

Your hardtop sounds like it needs adjustment. Do you know that the HT spikes have 3 axis of adjustment. There are plastic covers which cover the spikes, and once these have been unclipped give you access to a number of adjusting bolts. There is minimal adjustment possible on the clips themselves.

Apologies if you already know this.
