Default Harness

Hi all, has anybody fitted seat harnesses instead of the normal seat belts?

Yes a few people have on here.

You can either install a cage/roll over hoops with harness bar as shown below.

or install a rear brace between the top of the rear suspension struts, and loop the harnesses over that. I'll try to find a photo.

The top mounting points are meant to be as close to shoulder height as possible.

BTW: Don't fit harnesses and seats without fitting a proper roll bar first, one that is higher than your head. If you do roll it the harness and seat will do their job and hold you nice and firmly in place.....but your head and neck take the brunt of the cars weight.

Mine was a spoon 4 point cage and a single seater harness.

The new owner took it out and was looking to sell it.

Do you lose the ability to fold the roof, or the soft roof entirely?

I don't believe any of the cages prevent you putting the roof up or down. I know the Spoon one doesn't for example.

Don't think about replacing normal belts with a harness for road use. Will make normal driving on the road v.difficult and unsafe. Properly strapped in, you can hardly move.
