Default Has your S2000 been "problem free"

Hey!

Well next Tuesday I pick up my S2000 .. and I'm quite excited about it .. although not as much as I was the day I ordered ..

I think I've been doing far too much reading for my own good about it over the last few days - on these forums and others. I've also read every review on the internet I can find .. hundreds ... which has given me hope in some areas .. and a little bit of hesitancy in others .. Damn the internet! ;-)

There do seem to be a lot of little bugs, gripes, blips with these cars - misfiring problems, spluttering, leaking this, leaking that ... which comes as a surprise to me given this is supposed to be one of the most reliable roadsters going!

Or .. because every S2k owner with a gripe in the world has found their way to this web site .. it is skewing my perception of the car a little bit? ... How reliable and problem free have you found your car?

Shall I cancel my order and stick with my MX5 which has, honestly, not so much as coughed in 6 years of being hammered. ;-)

(Ok we all know I'm not going to cancel my order - but please someone help get back to 100% excitement instead of 85%)

)

James

I honestly don't think it's worth getting paranoid about the car before you pick it up.

Cars, being mechanical things tend to reflect in part the way they have been treated and anyway, if the car is 2007 and new, you have 3 years warranty with it.

So, calm down and look forward to a very long weekend waiting for next week, then find when the next local meet to you is and be there.

They are pretty good, but I had a few probs.

Clutch sticking
Roof tore on both sides
Rear calipers suspect siexed
Clicking hub nuts
Rear screen cracked (MY00)

Good car though! Just not as perfect as some would have you believe.

Conversely, others will have had no probs at all!

Ive had 5 scoobs and an Evo 8 and 1 fault among them.

Yours being an 07 - wouldn bat an eyelid - it will be fine!

You're gonna love every minute . I doubt very much you'll have any problems at all, just keep an eye out for the maintenance things you can do to avoid ageing problems later on and you'll be polishing your car with outrageously expensive wax in no time!!

Only wear & tear items for me !!

The 'modding' bug is much much more expensive

I picked mine up second hand and I've put around 2,000 miles on it so far. I've immediately picked up a rear puncture, a stonechip on the windshield and some helpful person has caught the rear bumper when de-parking next to me in the dark...

Those have been the only things to go wrong and I can't blame the car for any of them. On the flip side I have spent a lot of time in VTEC and generally hooning around in the wet and dry. Not one drop of oil has been consumed and the traction has been just fine, even in the cold. Trundling along the motorway at sensible speeds I get 300+ miles from a tank too. I'm very happy with the car

As has been said just enjoy the warranty and get the first 1,000 miles out of the way asap

no problems whatsoever in 45000 miles (5 years), most reliable car I've ever owned.

Every other car I've had has had significant problems, but this one just works without issue.
