Have I done something wrong?
Hi all,
After cleaning my car yesterday I decided to try Autoglym's vinyl cleaner to protect the roof, thinking it would look great, but it looks simply terrible!! It's streaky and grey in places and really does look dire.
I've read a load of threads and wondered if there's anything I can do. Do I put more of this stuff on and keep going until it's even all over? Or is there something I can wash the roof with to get rid of it and go back to how it was.
It's a case of curiosity killed the cat I suppose!

I take it you used the cleaner and protector?
It depends on how dirty the roof was to start with.
I suggests the following.
Get some Ragg Topp cleaner and some Ragg Topp protector. Get the ones for vinyl roof obviously.
Clean the roof carefully using the cleaner and then protect.
Aleternatively you could try some detergent (fairy liquid) worked into the hood with a soft brush then fully rinsed off before applying the Autoglym.
BTW all the protectors take a long tome to dry and can look patchy until they do.

I've tried that stuff before, and it is gash.
Ended up just using it on the tyre walls in the end, for a dark and shiny
(albeit very short-lived) finish.
Don't think I did anything to clean the mess though. Think I just left it to its own devices and it eventually cleaned itself up. Can't quite remember, as it was ages ago, before I got my mohair roof.

I just cleaned it and then whacked the Autoglym bumper care stuff on (the green slime). The roof was pretty clean!
I'll bear the Ragg Topp stuff in mind but am seriously tempted by the Fairy - it got if off my hands okay so the roof should be fair game, right?!

Ps a mohair roof?!

That's the stuff I was thinking of, Pie. Works as an engine dressing as well, but can go patchy if your not careful.

Your roof will end up looking shiny.
Suggest you leave it alone and re-clean the roof as I described above after a few regular washes with car shampoo.
Bumper care is for hard plastic only.

then thats only useful for rubber seals TBH
