Default Headlight bulbs

Well the sidelight on my O/S headlight has decided to pack in

So I've decided to tackle swapping out all the bulbs for both headlamps before the winter sets in!

Possibly the biggest mistake... Who knows!

So I need a set of the three bulbs, main, dipped and side light?

What would people recommend for each? Maybe HIDs for the dipped? Not sure if they're already HID? Was thinking of some LED style for sidelights!

Can see there's loads about for them all, what would you buy?

Dipped should already be HID.

Types listed here http://www.powerbulbs.com/vehicles/c...eadlight-bulbs

I think the high beam is H1 and the sides are W501

Some folk put a higher powered main beam in ( me included) i think mine are 100W.

I would skip the HID bulbs, unless they are blown. Decent ones are over £100 each.

For sidelights, use these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...E:L:OC:GB:3160

for main beam use these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-OSRAM-N...r/380741486769

I have fitted both recently (as I had a blown main beam).

The LED sidelights are almost pure white, and match the HID's lovely. The nightbreakers are super bright for your main beam.

Skip the HIDs but if you want some spares, HIDs direct on eBay do them at a reasonable price.

BE VERY CAREFUL the HIDs run on 24,000V!!!!!! so disconnect the battery, if you don't want to for whatever reason then pull both fuses and relays whilst you are working around the area, there seems to be some leakage from side to side.

For led sidelights, search Cree on eBay. Lovely and bright but remember that led's are polarity sensitive so stick them in the holder and test them before you bung it all back together.

Brilliant!

So I've ordered a set of nightbreakers, a set of the phillips. What HIDs would you recommend, i feel when i've got the chance to change them all, i might as well.

I have an awful feeling, after checking again this morning, the little bit of condensation in the o/s headlight may be responsible for the issues with the bulbs, which means i'm going to have the ballache of resealing the headlight unit as well as replacing all the bulbs!

Surely that's 24,000 watts, rather than volts?

Edit: just had a look at the "how to" for swapping the HID bulbs and you are in fact correct, 25kV, that's some major power right there!

So I've gone for osram D2S 5500K HID, night breakers and Philips sidelights, I'll update this when I've fixed the leaky unit and changed all the bulbs
