Do our headlights need the deflectors when driving in Spain/France? I have done a search and the general opinion is no,however my friend has just bought a kit with the deflectors in and it states our model..

When I went to europe, in the end I decided whether you actually need them or not for technical reasons is irrelevant, it is the conversation with a forgein official you want to avoid - do you really want to be trying to justify the technical intricacies of why you don't need them to spanish police, or for

I always buy and fit the cheapies from Halfords. Easy to fit and easy to remove. They are in fact a legal requirement in all European countries.

As GavB says, for the sake of a few pounds you could have big problems, particularly if involved in an accident in the dark!

I emailed Honda UK about this a few years back and was told they are not needed because the HID lights are self-levelling. I printed the email and always take it with me when travelling abroad. Touch wood, never had to get into a discussion about it with Monsieur Pl

The legal requirement is to 'not cause dazzle to oncoming drivers' rather than specifically to adjust/convert headlamp beam pattern so if it's only a short trip and you know you won't have to drive with lights on then conversion is not necessary.
Don't drive in the dark and you don't need them.
