Default Headlight washer not working

Hi guys,

The headlight washer on my S is not spraying out any water onto the lights and the car has failed its MOT. I've just searched the site for troubleshooting/fixing the headlight washer and couldn't find anything.

While this excellent guide (https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/103...ent-diy-guide/) covers replacing the pump, mine seems to work fine as the windscreen washer jets are working fine, just the headlight washers are not working. Could this be a blockage? Any tips or advice?

Thanks!

They are separate pumps - if you look at the DIY guide the headlight pump is the bigger unit mounted above the windscreen one.

Check the fuse under the bonnet as per the tech FAQ page on here.

Another thing is to remove the washers completely and blank the holes. It's only an MOT fail if they're fitted and not working, not if they aren't fitted. ;-)

Depending on what year your car is, it is a well known dodge to avoid getting sprayed with the top down when you inadvertantly place your elbow on the washer button, to remove the fuse from the fuse box. You might like to check there first before starting to worry about another cause.

You must have quite a strict MOT guy too! Don't think mine work either but it passed MOT a few weeks back ok?!

When you use the headlight washers do you hear the pump going?

I need to check mine out as I hear this yet nothing come out the washers on my S2000 MY04, I suspect a previous owner has blocked them off...
