Headunits with iPod/Dash controls
Hi all
My DVD headunit is dieing and I'm looking to replace with something else. As I use my iPod alot the headunit needs iPod support but what I'd really like is something thats plug and play for the dash controls. I wired up my dvd headunit to but don't wish to go through all that again!
I'm not worried about having DVD anymore just a cdplayer that has iPod connection that works with the dash controls. The OEM iPod kit seems very expensive so I may aswell go for something quality like Kenwood/Alpine/JVC big brand etc.
Cheers

Hi, I purchased at 57 plate s2k recently and one of the first things I decided had to change was the stock headunit. I did some research on here and settled on the Alpine CDE-104 BTi. Must say I am really pleased with this unit. The controls are a little bit fiddly, but it has CD, aux, USB and iPod/iPhone connectivity. The 104 model comes with a cable out of the back of the unit to connect the iPod/iPhone and this is long enough to reach the glovebox or cargo net on the transmission tunnel.
It also has a Bluetooth Parrott phonekit built into it and that wirelessly downloads the phonebook.

I have an Alpine CDA 9887R with an interface lead for the iPod, and a Countdown Enterprises DCI (see Shiskines signature for details of the DCI) and it all works a treat!
does anybody know otherwise, and can point me to somewhere to buy a lead that will work.
its a pain having to change everything via the head unit.

If you have a std iNet Apline unit, you need the Alpine box of tricks to use your iPod (and I'm selling one of those too).

I just fitted an Alpine IDA-X305 Digital Media Unit which doesn't have a CD slot as it only controls Ipod which suits me fine as I don ever listen to CDs since I got my ipod
Coupled with that I also got teh KCE-BT400 Bluetooth module along with it and the in car tec dash control interface and loom
Abosultely godsend compared to factory! Only thing with this unit is that the rotary button does kiss the door when you open and close it!
