Default Hello & Chirpy

Hi, I've just bought a new S2k so I'm very new to this!
Driving the car back I noticed a chirping noise around the 3.2 to 3.5k rev range and under acceleration. I was wondering if it was a known problem or a characteristic of the car?
Cheers,
Sim

You probably have an AEM cold air intake installed (which if you do is a good thing) these have the characteristic of chirping at around 3K ... hence my suggestion ... worth it when you go into VTEC with them though

This is what it looks like installed.

Forgot to mention that it's completely stock, so has the original air box.

I have had my AEM so long that maybe the car did the chirping 'stock' at 3k also, either way I wouldn't worry about it, just keep it past 3k and your laughing

That chirping will be a loose heat shield mate. Mine does it at exactly the same point in the rev range.

I had a whistley type chirp at same point 3k under load after fitting a PRM intake. It went after I cleaned the soot from the intake throttle body if that helps?

Welcome to the world of S2000's btw :-)

I don't think it is normal on the standard S, people who get in my car who own a stock S ask 'what is that chirping noise at 3k' ... if it were normal they would hear it in their own car, and they don't.

Mine does it on partial throttle at the same rpm as this, it did it before i fitted the PRM and when i fitted the K&N but it's more noticeable from cold - once it has warmed up fades away but that's probably because i'm drowning it out
