Default Hello and Help!

Hi everyone, I finally bought a silverstone S2000 last month (53, 1600 miles on the clock for a decent price) after six months of searching and while I'm loving every minute of it, the car has already taken a couple of knocks.

The first is a large chip out of the driver's wing mirror thanks to waster in the local car park not giving a toss about other people's property when opening the car door.

The second and the biggest gutter for me happened on my way to work a couple of days ago. On the dual carriage way, in the outside lane doing around 60, a car on the inside, a car behind and a van in front. All of a sudden the van in front runs over something, it was a dark, early morning so I couldn't see what the object was and I had no choice but to stay on the same course anyway (the car behind was driving too closely so I couldn't hit the brakes). Next thing an exhaust silencer with part of the exhaust still attached was flying towards me and just came to rest in front of my car. The impact was strong and the front bumper took the full force, the exhaust ended up under the wheels and shot off the road to my right. At the same time my reaction was to swerve, I then corrected realising that I was surrounded by other vehicles but the car started to fishtail - having grown up with rear-wheeled driven cars this was no problem to correct and it thankfully handled like a dream. However I'm now absolutely gutted that the car is in the shape that it is.

So a couple of questions - I need to get a new bumper fitted,

Does anyone know of a top class Honda dealer who specialise in bodywork repair in and around the Watford area - although I'd be willing to travel to get the best job done?

Is it difficult to get a perfect match in colour for the silverstone? I really don't want it to look like it's been replaced.

Cheers.

sorry to hear of your mishap but i would not worry to much, honda dealers are going to charge a fortune to do the repair so best bet is to find a sprayer/ body shop repairer yourself or ask your local honda dealer who else they can recommend, this will at least save you some money,

second have a look on the breakers list in the forum and have a ring round to see if any have a front bumper i am sure you will find one and they will courier it to you for about

I had to replace my front bumper recently after a sheep had a bad break up and decided to dive in front of my S on a fast A road to end it all.

The cost all in from a Honda dealer's own bodyshop in Edinburgh was

Monkey if you are in the Watford Area here's your info:

Crown at Bushey are the best dealer - speak to Gary Hedge, and ask for Jorge (George) to work on your car as for bodyshop they use Pennings, who I think are very overpriced -they quoted me

Ian,

I don't suppose the breaker that supplied your bootlid had a complete silverstone front bumper, perchance.

(I realise with S2000 write-offs, a good former & latter are about 99% mutually exclusive!)
