Default Help!

Hi all, having more problems with my gearbox but not sure if it's just paranoia from having a whole raft of problems in a row...

To quickly re-cap on the history... Got my beloved S in June and after a couple of weeks I could hear a whirring noise from the engine which disappeared when i pressed the clutch pedal. In my limited experience of working on cars I diagnosed this as being the clutch release bearing being faulty. I took it to Honda and they said the whole gearbox needed to be replaced! They replaced it and the whirring noise disappeared but after a couple of weeks the gearbox was making a loud grunting noise when i selected 3rd or 5th gear. I took it back, they put another new gearbox in. A month later the grunting noise started again. I took it back in and they told me it was actually the noise reduction plate below the gear shifter that had lifted up at the front. They replaced the plate and the noise disappeared.

2 weeks on, the original whirring noise came back, the noise disappears again when I engage the clutch.... I want to take it back in again but I'm just checking to see if anyone else has had this problem or if it is a natural noise for the car?? The whirring noise is only quiet but you can hear the difference in sound when the clutch is pressed.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

J

P.S Sorry about the essay!

check out the FAQ but it could be the old clutch problem which you can have replaced under warranty.

Rahula, there's a problem with the database apparently so it won't let me search . You mentioned something about an old clutch problem, have you got any more info on that pal?

Cheers

Clutch: The clutches on the earlier cars, can make quite a lot of noise when decelerating in gear. These clutches can be replaced by the 055 clutch under warranty.

I'll see if I can get more info.

Thanks to Rahul for pointing me in the right direction. Looks like my problem is the clutch plate, a number of the 054 clutch cars have experienced the exact same symptoms as mine.

Anybody know what model of clutch is in a 2002 MY? Will I already have the 055 in??

Just wanting to have all the ammunition possible to help when I face the dealers!

Thanks again everyone.
