Default Help!

Hi Guys,

I managed to get the flip down stereo facia off to replace the stereo but can no way get it back on. I cannot get the bottom of it in at all and the 3 clips aren't even close. Do I have to take the centre consol trim off?

Any help is very much appreciated

Thanks

Thanks very much but ive managed to do it by taking the trim for the centre consol off. Im sure you shouldn't have to do that. Theres just wasn't the clearence for the 3 clips between that and the clip housings.

Thanks a lot anyway

Been there

It seems to come off OK, and then when you try and push it back on it doesn't want to go.

Put tape on the bits that could scratch and then persist!

I think you have to get the top or bottom in first and the ease the other end in.

Top first then bottom?

Hi Steve,

Which year S do you have ?

You need to update your profile

I think there's a slight difference between the earlier models and the later models, as I have taken mine out & replaced it whithout any problems.

In fact it is harder to take off than it is to replace !

The centre console trim changed from 04 onwards, which has made the job of reattaching the door much harder - having had the door off many times now I've perfected the technique but don't let anybody tell you to push as hard as possible otherwise you'll break the clips off!

With the door half open in its frame, reach through with your hands and with your fingers bend the three clips downwards as you put them close to the holes they need to locate in.

Then, and only then, push the door into place - bottom first - until the clips are in. Once the clips are in, take out your hands and *then* push the top and sides of the door in as hard as you can!

I'm surprised the faq hasn't been updated to cover this yet??!

I believe the funny little hook is to rest you cigarette on if you have the ashtray installed.

Though I am not a smoker so have never put this to the test

excellent, thanks Alex. im hopefully buying a nice new stereo soon so will need to take it off again.

And thanks for putting my mind at rest concerning that funny hook in the ashtray. Was wondering if it was to hang tiny little coats on!?

I like you will not be needing it either. Might take it out for some extra mpg
