Default help with civic type R....

Guys,

Am testing a CTR in a couple of days. Does anyone know:-

1. What the best owners forums are.
2. What things to look out for when looking at one.
3. Any current issues/problems with the cars.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

There are a lot of owners on the Honda-R boards too.

Arey you looking at new or 2nd hand?

Some owners have complained of the car pulling to the right under normal driving, usually cured by an alignnment check/adjust. Look out for this on your test drive and note if the steering wheel is level when driving straight ahead.

'03 models have a new Cat 1 alarm, and there are problems with the alarm going off due to a fault on the sensors. The problem is being fixed under warranty although I would expect all new cars to be leaving the factory OK by now.

Very few problems really.

Interestingly, we test drove both a CTR and a 1.6 VTEC.
Obvious differences with these 2, but compared to the S, the CTR felt more torquey (even though Karen stalled it as soon as she sat in it ...poor love....nerves, I think . But she certainly tested the engine to the max afterwards!!).

It also seemed to require less concentration than driving the S....it is front wheel drive I guess.

Quiter engine, comfortable.

Overall, a more civil car, but with adequate power on tap.

Sorry Mark, not really answered your questions, but it does seem like a very nice car to drive, albeit quite a bit different to the S....but then I guess you expect that.

San.

Well if you're buying 2nd hand then obviously have a good look round for stone chips and dings, check the interior for signs of careful ownership. I'm sure you've been there before!

If you're going new then you should be able to get the carpets thrown in the deal, If you fancy the fog lights, they look good but are a rip off at about
