Default help from electrically/technically minded people please

I've just installed some new speakers (infinity reference 6502i). the sound is great with the radio but if i put a cd on, the drivers side one crackles. does anyone know why this would happen?
I still have the old honda head unit and cd changer, but have an alpine cda9812 on the way.

Is it the OEM cd changer as well, or a branded changer linked to the OEM head unit?

Hmm. It's ok with the radio so that rules out the HU amp, speakers and cabling.

Sounds like you've either got a dodgy cd changer or cable.

One quick question, have you tried more than one cd? A couple of my older cdrs are scratched and make funny crackling noises every so often.

A change to Alpine kit should sort it out

I assume the new speakers are in the doors??? I would try and put some electrical tape over the connection on th rear of the speaker. I had a similar problem in my prelude. The depth of the speaker meant that the connection earth out evertime it moved or hit abump etc. Fixed it for me otherwise I would look at swapping the speakers over with each other and see if the problem persists. If still on drivers side would hazard aguess at the wiring if it moves to the passenger side (ie follows the speaker) I would get the speaker checked. Appologies if it sounds like I am teaching you how to suck eggs..... Ross

The new head unit will *not* connect to the OEM Honda CD Changer ......... best to throw it away (or sell it on here) and get an Alpine MP3 Changer
