I'm thinking if I start it cold in the morning and it sounds OK the liklihood is it is TCT. The question is would it be wise to embark on a 2000 mile round trip with it rattling like that ?

thanks Noodles. I had the same thought that I wouldn't trust it for that distance. Got a few options to explore tomorrow. If not, the wife gets to pack a whole load more of her stuff in the CRV

I drove my old car a long way with a rattly TCT. It was fine for another 50,000 miles or so...

That sounds rough.. if its TCT it'd be ok, if not you'll be calling the AA.. try and find one/refurb it imo

The sound from mine a few months ago was very similar and was resolved by getting the TCT shot blasted.

Would probably be fine for the journey, but personally, i wouldn't want the worry.

Thanks for your replies. I agree, its about enjoying the trip without worrying something more sever is about to fail. I'm hoping I can get a new one fitted today or tomorrow. If its still rattling then I'll know its not that simple !
